## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

CFI WAS CONDUCTING A FLIGHT REVIEW FOR THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OF THE AIRCRAFT. FOLLOWING SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF ALL FLIGHT MANEUVERS, CFI HAD THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ FLY BACK TO KTUS. WHILE APPROACHING KTUS, THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS DIRECTED BY ATC INTO TWO 360-DEGREE TURNS ON THE DOWNWIND PRIOR TO TURNING TO BASE. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ CONTINUED STABILIZED APPROACH BUT FAILED TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR, UNTIL AIRCRAFT SUDDENLY SANK AND THE GEAR WARNING CAME ON. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DESCRIBED THAT AT THAT POINT, CLIMBING AGAIN WAS NOT AN OPTION, SO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DECIDED TO REDUCE POWER AND LAND GEAR UP TO AVOID VEERING OFF RUNWAY, ETC. POSSIBLY CAUSING MORE DAMAGE AND HARM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
