## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING WHEEL LANDING ROLL-OUT, PILOT ENCOUNTERED DIRECT CROSSWIND THAT WEATHERVANED AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT, OFF	CENTERLINE OF RWY 15. PILOT APPLIED FULL POWER BUT RAN SHORT OF ADEQUATE RUNWAY FOR GO-AROUND. THE AIRCRAFT GROUND TRACK WAS APPROXIMATELY PARALLEL WITH THE RUNWAY AND DESCENDED INTO A WATER FILLED DITCH BEFORE SLAMMING INTO THE RISING SHOULDER AND CONCRETE CULVERT ON THE SECOND TAXIWAY. THE IMPACT SHEARED THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR SUPPORTING STRUCTURE FREE OF THE FUSELAGE. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE CULVERT, THE LEFT WINGTIP MADE IMPACT WITH THE GROUND AND THE AIRCRAFT SKIDDED COMPLETELY ACROSS THE TAXIWAY COMING TO REST ON THE	OPPOSITE SHOULDER. THE CFI AND STUDENT WERE WEARING SHOULDER HARNESSES AND WERE NOT INJURED. PILOT STATED AIRCRAFT CONTROLS AND ENGINE WERE OPERATING CORRECTLY. VIDEO PROVIDED BY AIRCRAFT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ CONFIRMS THESE EVENTS. METAR 10.7 MILES SE OF 81B: (KLEW) 181756Z AUTO 17012G17KT 10SM CLR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA25LA221](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA25LA221), Apr 18, 2025: Cessna 170 (N2607V), Oxford, ME, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll in gusty crosswind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
