## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 2, 2025, THE PILOT OF AMERICAN CHAMPION AIRCRAFT WAS PERFORMING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS IN MOHAVE AIR & SPACE PORT (MHV). AT THE LAST TOUCH AND GO BEFORE THE ACCIDENT, THE PILOT APPROACHED RUNWAY 26. AFTER LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO DRIFT TOWARDS THE LEFT. THE PILOT TRIED TO LIFT BACK UP BUT WAS UNABLE TO GET LIFT, STALLING, AND LANDING ON THE RUNWAY SAFETY AREA BETWEEN RUNWAY 26 AND RUNWAY 30. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP WITH THE NOSE DOWN, RESULTING IN VISIBLE DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA149](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA149), May 2, 2025: American Champion 8KCAB (N538EE), Mojave, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s exceedance of the airplane’s critical angle of attack during climb out from an aborted landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
