## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT IN COMMAND HAD RECENTLY PURCHASED A NEW GLIDER AND WAS PREPARING FOR A FLIGHT. DURING TAKEOFF, HE LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, THE LEFT WING CLIPPED THE GROUND, AT WHICH POINT THE PILOT GAINED APPROXIMATELY 10-20 FEET AND RELEASED HIMSELF FROM THE TOW. THE AIRCRAFT THEN CARTWHEELED AND HIT THE GROUND. THE PIC WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT AND STATED HE DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA177](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA177), May 14, 2025: Rolladen-Schneider LS-6B (N246GC), Hinckley, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain control of the glider during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
