## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 27, 2025, THE PILOT WAS SCHEDULED TO FLY AIRCRAFT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. HE ARRIVED AT THE AIRPORT AT THE SCHEDULED TIME AND CONDUCTED A STANDARD PREFLIGHT INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT. HE HAD A WEATHER DELAY AND AROUND 930 HE CAME BACK TO THE AIRPORT FOR HIS FLIGHTS. HE BEGAN THE START PROCESS. THE ENGINE START APPEARED NORMAL, AND HE ATTEMPTED TO TAKE THE AIRCRAFT OFF PITCH LOCKS. ALL SYSTEM INDICATIONS APPEARED NORMAL. HE GAVE THE THUMBS UP TO GROUND PERSONNEL TO RELEASE THE DOCK LINE; AND ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE AIRCRAFT FORWARD, THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT MOVE. HE ATTEMPTED A SECOND TIME TO DISENGAGE THE PITCH LOCKS AND MOVE FORWARD, BUT AGAIN THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT MOVE.

WITH WIND GUSTS EXCEEDING 20 KNOTS, AND THE AIRCRAFT UNSECURED, IT BEGAN TO DRIFT BACKWARD. HE MADE TWO ADDITIONAL ATTEMPTS TO DISENGAGE THE PITCH LOCKS WITHOUT SUCCESS. AT THIS POINT, HE MADE THE DECISION TO SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN IN CASE THE WIND TURNED THE AIRPLANE WITH THE PROP SPINNING. AS THE WIND PUSHED THE AIRCRAFT FURTHER DOWN AND AWAY FROM THE DOCK. HE FELT THE REAR OF ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ CONTACT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

TO MITIGATE FURTHER DAMAGE, HE RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THIS TIME HE WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY DISENGAGE THE PITCH LOCKS AND MANEUVER THE AIRCRAFT BACK TO THE DOCK, WHERE IT WAS SECURED.

## Other aircraft in the event

- N753AK, Dehavilland DHC-3: no report for this aircraft; [N753AK](https://openairdocs.org/aircraft/N753AK) is registered now

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
