## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 03, 2025, A UNIVERSAL STINSON 180 TOUCHED DOWN MIDFIELD ON RUNWAY 02L AT THE SUGAR VALLEY AIRPORT (5NC2) AND LIFTED THE LEFT WHEEL TO AVOID A TURTLE. THE AIRCRAFT TEETERED BACK AND FORTH AFTER LIFT OFF, VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND BEGAN TO CLIMB, BUT DID NOT GAIN SUFFICIENT ALTITUDE TO CLEAR THE TREES OFF THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED ON IMPACT AND A POST CRASH FIRE, LEAVING PRIMARILY THE METAL FRAME, AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT, WITH THE TAIL SECTION WAS MOSTLY INTACT. CONTINUITY WAS FOUND ON ALL FLIGHT CONTROLS DURING THEIR SITE INSPECTION. THERE WERE TWO FATALITIES AND ONE SERIOUS INJURY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25FA194](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25FA194), Jun 3, 2025: Universal Stinson 108 (N40158), Farmington, NC, substantial damage, 2 fatal, investigation ongoing

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System.
