## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 6, 2025, AIRCRAFT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, A CESSNA CE-150, CRASHED NEAR THE DEER VALLEY AIRPORT (DVT), DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE. THERE WERE TWO PERSONS ON BOARD AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, A STUDENT PILOT AND A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR (CFI), BOTH RECEIVED INJURIES AND WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL THE SAME DAY.

INVESTIGATION AT THE ACCIDENT SITE REVEALED THAT THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO PERFORM AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A VACANT LOT ADJACENT TO THE AIRPORT PROPERTY ON ROUGH TERRAIN CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP AND COME TO REST ON ITS TOP. THE AIRCRAFT WAS FOUND TO HAVE AMPLE FUEL ONBOARD AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. CONFIRMATION OF FUEL FLOW TO THE ENGINE WAS MADE AND NO FUEL CONTAMINATION WAS APPARENT. INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE REVEALED THAT THERE WAS FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT, AND NO APPARENT CAUSE OF THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS FOUND, BASED ONLY ON EXTERNAL EXAMINATION.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HANGAR AT THE DEER VALLEY AIRPORT AND WAS LATER MOVED TO AIR TRANSPORT IN PHOENIX, AWAITING A MORE DETAILED INSPECTION.

REVIEW OF THE AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE RECORDS SHOWED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS CURRENT ON ALL INSPECTIONS AND MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS. CURRENT REGISTRATION AND AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE WERE ONBOARD THE AIRCRAFT AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH.

EFFORTS TO INTERVIEW THE PILOT (CFI) HAVE BEEN REFUSED. IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT REASONABLE CAUSE EXISTS TO JUSTIFY THE VALIDATION OF THE PILOT'S COMPETENCY UNDER TITLE 49 U.S. CODE § 44709.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA170](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA170), Jun 6, 2025: Cessna 150M (N45659), Phoenix, AZ, substantial damage, investigation ongoing

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
