## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT PULLED HELICOPTER FROM HANGAR ON A WHEELED PLATFORM. THE AIRCRAFT WAS PLACED SLIGHTLY BELOW THE OPEN HANGAR DOOR. THE PILOT ELECTED TO RELOCATE THE AIRCRAFT TO AN ALTERNATE LOCATION AT THE AIRPORT TO TAKE ON FUEL. DURING TAKEOFF THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES CONTACTED THE OPEN DOOR OF THE HANGAR. CAUSING FAILURE OF MAIN ROTOR BLADES AND SUBSEQUENT SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA173](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA173), Jun 13, 2025: Bell 407 (N407SJ), Bountiful, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper decision to depart with inadequate clearance from a hangar door.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
