## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^DEPARTED JFK ON 19 JUNE AT 2331Z/1931(L), AFTER A 90-MINUTE DELAY DUE TO CONVECTIVE WEATHER AND WINDSHEAR AT THE FIELD. THREE AND A HALF HOURS AFTER THEIR OFP WAS PUBLISHED THE CREW FINALLY DEPARTED UNAWARE OF A CONVECTIVE SIGMET OVERHEAD THE FIELD AND ON THEIR DEPARTURE FLIGHT PATH BECAUSE A PREFLIGHT BRIEFING WAS NOT CONDUCTED BETWEEN CAPTAIN AND DISPATCHER, NOR WAS AN UPDATE PROVIDED TO THE CAPTAIN ABOUT THE SIGMET. SHORTLY AFTER DEPARTURE AT 12,000FT, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DEVIATE AROUND CELLS DEPICTED ON WX RADAR, THEY ENCOUNTERED MOD/SEVERE CONVECTIVE TURBULENCE. 12 INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE CREW AND DISPATCHER HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED INTO THE ASAP PROGRAM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
