## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON FINAL APPROACH TO LANDING WHEN THE RATE OF DESCENT INCREASED, RESULTING IN A HARD LANDING AND A BOUNCE. THE AIRCRAFT BECAME MOMENTARILY AIRBORNE BEFORE DESCENDING AGAIN AND IMPACTING THE RUNWAY WITH A NOSE-DOWN ATTITUDE.

UPON THE SECOND IMPACT, THE NOSE LANDING GEAR FAILED, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER AND COME TO REST INVERTED.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR ANY OCCUPANTS. HOWEVER, THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE, INCLUDING A COLLAPSED NOSE GEAR, PROPELLER DAMAGE, AND AIRFRAME DAMAGE DUE TO THE INVERSION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA214](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA214), Jun 19, 2025: Cessna 172 (N7299Q), Brookshire, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper landing flare, which resulted in a hard, bounced landing and the nose landing gear collapsing.

## Other reports on N7299Q (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19780625036219I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19780625036219I), Jun 25, 1978: Cessna 172 (N7299Q), Washington, DC. Returned after departure due to engine roughness. Mags more than 50 per cent over recommended life.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
