## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC REPORTED THE AIRCRAFT'S ENGINE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHILE IN CRUISE FLIGHT FOR 5 SECONDS BEFORE THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN UN-COMMANDED. THE PIC EXECUTED A POWER OFF LANDING IN A FIELD NEAR SHANNON AIRPORT (KEZF). DURING THE ON-SCENE FAA INVESTIGATION, 2 OF THE 3 PROPELLER BLADES HAD SEPARATED FROM THE PROPELLER HUB AND COULD NOT BE LOCATED AT THE ACCIDENT SCENE. THE VIOLENT NATURE OF THE IN-FLIGHT ENGINE VIBRATIONS AND SUBSEQUENT ENGINE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE IN-FLIGHT SEPARATION OF THE PROPELLER BLADES AT A CRUISE POWER SETTING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA25LA236](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA25LA236), Jun 20, 2025: Sting Sport TL-2000 (N878N), Dunavant, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The inflight failure of the propeller due to its exceedance of the manufacturer’s overhaul requirement.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
