## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

LOCAL FAMILY FARM PILOT SON & PART ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OF AIRCRAFT WAS SPRAYING THEIR FARM FIELD UNDER A HIGH-TENSION POWER LINE. ATTEMPTED TO CLIMB OVER THE POWER LINE AND MISJUDGED, UNABLE TO OUT CLIMB, SO TRIED TO FLY UNDER THE TOP WIRES AND OVER THE LOWER WIRES. THE VERTICAL FIN CAUGHT ON THE FIRST UPPER WIRE AND TORE THE VERTICAL FROM THE FUSELAGE., SLOWING THE AIRCRAFT ENOUGH TO STALL IT. THEN PAN-CAKING IT INTO THE FIELD JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIRE LINES. NORTH TO SOUTH IN THIS CASE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA221](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA221), Jun 24, 2025: Air Tractor AT-402B (N107ML), Pierre, SD, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain clearance with the power lines while maneuvering that resulted in an in-flight collision with the power lines and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
