## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT LANDED ON RUNWAY 31 AT KASX WITHOUT EXTENDING LANDING GEAR, DAMAGING THE AIRCRAFT PROPELLER AND FUSELAGE. AFTER THE AIRCRAFT WAS RAISED AND THE GEAR WAS EXTENDED, IT WAS TOWED TO THE RAMP WHERE FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE DAMAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE AIRCRAFT FUSELAGE WAS SUBSTANTIAL. THE PILOT STATED HE WAS DISTRACTED BY CONSTRUCTION OCCURRING AT THE END OF RUNWAY 31 AND FAILED TO EXTEND THE GEAR DURING PERFORMANCE OF HIS PRELANDING CHECKS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA220](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA220), Jun 24, 2025: Piper PA-24-260 (N8817P), Ashland, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to extend the landing gear before landing and his failure to conduct the before landing checklist.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
