## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

SOLO STUDENT PILOT LANDING AFTER SECOND/FINAL LEG OF CROSS COUNTRY. AIRCRAFT BOUNCED UPON

LANDING, STUDENT INITIATED GO-AROUND. AS STUDENT APPLIED FULL POWER, HE ALSO RETRACTED FLAPS. WITH AIRCRAFT AT A HIGH ANGLE OF ATTACK, FLAP RETRACTION INCREASED THE STALL SPEED, CAUSING THE WING TO LOSE LIFT FROM THE ONSET OF THE STALL ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE. IN ADDITION, MINIMAL AIRFLOW OVER TAIL REDUCED RUDDER EFFECTIVENESS NECESSARY TO COMPENSATE FOR THE TORQUE AND P-FACTOR PRODUCED BY THE ENGINE. BECAUSE OF THOSE FORCES ACTING ON THE AIRCRAFT, THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED CONTROLLED FLIGHT TO THE LEFT ONLY A FEW FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY AND PROCEEDED TOWARD A TREE LINE EAST OF THE RUNWAY. THE DOWNWARD SLOPE OF THE TERRAIN ALLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO MAINTAIN A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF ALTITUDE ABOVE THE GROUND, BUT WAS INSUFFICIENT FOR CLEARING THE TREE LINE. AIRCRAFT IMPACTED TREES ON A SOUTHEASTERLY HEADING, COMING TO REST WITH THE WRECKAGE FACING A WESTERLY HEADING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA223](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA223), Jun 25, 2025: Cirrus Design SR22 (N670P), Unionville, MO, destroyed. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain airplane control during a go-around.

## Other reports on N670P (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20101226055089I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20101226055089I), Dec 26, 2010: Cirrus Desi SR22 (N670P), San Jose, CA, Minor damage. Pilot landed hard on runway 13R, applied brakes hard, causing left wheel tire to blow. The aircraft was towed off the runway. No injury to sole occupant.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
