## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNING FROM A LOCAL FLIGHT LESSON. WHILE IN THE AIRPORT TRAFFIC PATTERN, THE PILOT PERFORMED THE PRE-LANDING CHECKLIST. THIS CHECKLIST REQUIRES THE PILOT TO SWITCH TO THE "FULLEST TANK". THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS APPARENTLY MOVED FROM THE RIGHT-TANK POSITION TO THE OFF POSITION WHEN IT WAS ROTATED PAST THE LEFT-TANK POSITION. THIS CUT OFF FUEL TO THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER ABOUT A MINUTE LATER. THE PILOT MADE A FORCED LANDING AMONGST THE TREES SHORT OF RUNWAY 16 AT KTPL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA225](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA225), Jun 26, 2025: Tecnam P2010 (N258CM), Temple, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to a failed muffler flame tube assembly which resulted in an exhaust blockage.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
