## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^PILOT PLANNED AND FILED A FLIGHT PLAN TO GO FROM LOMPOC TO SANTA BARBARA. THE FLIGHT WAS COMPLETED WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE FELT RUSHED TO CLEAR THE ACTIVE RUNWAY, HOWEVER BECAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE WINGSPAN (88 FT, RUNWAY IS 75 FT WIDE) WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO TAXI WAY "B" HE DID NOT MAINTAIN HIS TURN RADIUS BY STAYING ON THE MARKED RADIUS CENTER-LINE FOR TAXI WAY "B" (CUT THE CORNER) AND HIT THE TAXI WAY "B" SIGN. THIS CAUSE SERVER DAMAGE TO THE LEFT LEADING EDGE TO THE WING, ABOUT 5 FT IN FROM THE WING TIP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA192](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA192), Jun 27, 2025: Alexander Schleicher ASH 30 MI (N307BE), Santa Barbara, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain taxiway centerline while taxiing off the runway which resulted in a left-wing strike with a runway direction sign.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
