## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 6, 2025, AROUND 13:45 MT, A BEECHCRAFT F35 WAS INVOLVED IN A FATAL ACCIDENT. THE SOLE OCCUPANT, A PRIVATE PILOT, WAS FATALLY INJURED. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED ANGEL FIRE AIRPORT AROUND 13:30 ON A PART 91 PERSONAL FLIGHT HEADED TO HOBBS NEW MEXICO USA. NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE ALTITUDE OF THE ANGEL FIRE AIRPORT IS 8380 FT. TEMPERATURE AT THE TIME OF DEPARTURE WAS 74F WITH A DEWPOINT OF 50F. THE AIRPORT CONFIRMED THAT THE PILOT TOPPED EACH FUEL TANK TO FULL PRIOR TO DEPARTURE. THE AIRPLANE WAS REPORTED MISSING AFTER FAILING TO SHOW UP AT HOBBS.

ON JULY 8, 2025, AIRCRAFT WRECKAGE WAS DISCOVERED ABOUT 10 MILES NE OF ANGEL FIRE AIRPORT AT AN ALTITUDE OF ABOUT 9,930FT IN A BOX CANYON JUST WEST OF CIMARRONCITO PEAK.

ON JULY 10, 2025, REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NTSB AND FAA TRAVELED TO THE SITE. THE WRECKAGE WAS CONTAINED IN AN AREA OF APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET IN DIAMETER AREA. TWO PINE TREES IN THAT 50-FOOT AREA HAD THEIR TOPS SHEARED OFF AND PART OF THE LEFT WING WAS HANGING IN ONE OF THE TREES. THERE WAS AN INDENTATION IN THE GROUND WHERE BOTH PROPELLER BLADES WERE RECOVERED. THE BLADES WERE SHEARED AT THE HUB AND SHOWED EVIDENCE OF BEING IN ROTATION WHEN THEY HIT THE GROUND. A POST-CRASH FIRE CONSUMED THE MAJORITY OF THE STRUCTURE AND INTERIOR OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE ENGINE WILL BE EVALUATED OFF SITE BY THE NTSB AT A LATER DATE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25FA205](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25FA205), Jul 6, 2025: Beech F35 (N5009B), Eagle Nest, NM, destroyed, 1 fatal, investigation ongoing

## Other reports on N5009B (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
