## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT PERFORMED A LOW FLYBY OF THE LANDING AREA AT APPROX. 300 FEET AGL TO SURVEY THE LANDING AREA. ON THE FLYBY HE DETERMINED THAT HE COULD LAND THERE. PILOT PERFORMED A RIGHT DOWN WIND APPROACH WITH A SLIGHT CROSS WIND (APPROX 10 MPH) AT 850 AGL.

TWO NOTCHES OF FLAPS WERE SET. PILOT SELECTED A TOUCH DOWN SPOT AND BEGAN TO CUT POWER TO TOUCH DOWN. BEFORE TOUCH DOWN HE SAID HE DIDN'T LIKE THE TERRAIN SO HE BLIPPED THE THROTTLE TO GET OVER SOME OF THE ROUGH TERRAIN. HE DID THIS TWICE UNTIL HE DETERMINED THAT THE LANDING SURFACE WAS GOOD. HE THEN CUT POWER AND BOUNCED ON LANDING. WHEN ROLLING OUT HE REALIZED THAT HE WAS QUICKLY RUNNING OUT OF LANDING AREA. AT THE END OF THE LANDING SURFACE WAS A 2-3 FOOT ABRUPT DROP (RIVER WASHOUT). INSTEAD OF GOING OFF THE END OF THE LANDING AREA PILOT LOCKED UP THE BRAKES. THIS RESULTED IN FLIPPING THE PLANE ON ITS TOP.
