## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^/OPERATOR DEPARTED GREENVILLE DOWNTOWN (KGMU) WITH A PLANNED FUEL STOP AT NORTHEAST FLORIDA REGIONAL AIRPORT (KSGJ) IN ST. AUGUSTINE, FL. THE PILOT'S PREFLIGHT PLANNING FAILED TO PROPERLY DETERMINE THE REQUIRED FUEL TO ARRIVE AT THE DESTINATION AIRPORT WITH THE APPROPRIATE VFR FUEL RESERVES. WHILE BEING SEQUENCED TO LAND, THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE FAILED DUE TO FUEL STARVATION. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE FOR A SHORT TIME WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED. HE ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON TRAIN TRACKS PARRALLEL TO U.S. HWY 1. THE AIRCRAFT TRAVELED UNDER A SET OF POWER LINES AND CAME TO REST IN A DITCH BETWEEN THE TRAIN TRACKS AND US HYW 1, APPROXIMATELY 2150 METERS (1.1 NM) NORTHWEST OF THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA25LA264](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA25LA264), Jul 11, 2025: Cessna 150 (N8503G), St. Augustine, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s inadequate fuel planning, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
