## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

A PASSENGER'S LAPTOP CAUGHT FIRE AT SEAT 4B. SMOKE FILLED SOME OF THE FIRST-CLASS CABIN AND BEGINNING OF ECONOMY ROWS. FLIGHT ATTENDANTS PLACED THE LAPTOP IN A CONTAINMENT BAG. PILOTS PERFORMED THE “SMOKE FIRE FUMES” QUICK REFERENCE PROCEDURE. AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED AND THE AIRCRAFT DIVERTED TO CASPER, WY (CPR).

ONE ELDERLY PASSENGER INJURY WAS REPORTED RESULTING FROM INHALATION OF LAPTOP SMOKE. THE PASSENGER WAS TREATED BY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS) AND TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL.

INJURIES OF THE ELDERLY PASSENGER ARE UNKNOWN AS FAMILY MEMBERS WILL NOT RELEASE ANY MEDICAL INFORMATION TO UNITED AIRLINES, OR FAA.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
