## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 15, 2025, AT APPROXIMATELY 17:00 LOCAL TIME, AT THE DURHAM AIRPORT (II68) IN RUSSELLVILLE, INDIANA; A SCHWEIZER G-164B SINGLE ENGINE AIRCRAFT’S RIGHT WING CONTACTED THE STANDING MATURE CORN CROP THAT LINED THE RUNWAY WHILE TAKING OFF FROM RUNWAY 27. THE RIGHT WING’S IMPACT WITH THE CORN CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO YAW TO THE RIGHT AND TRAVEL FURTHER INTO THE CORN FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT ROTATED 120 DEGREES CLOCKWISE FROM THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL AND CAME TO A REST APPROXIMATELY 15’ INSIDE THE CORN FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA254](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA254), Jul 15, 2025: Schweizer G-164B (N7501A), Russellville, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to establish and maintain the airstrip centerline during takeoff, which resulted in the airplane’s right wingtips contacting the corn that bordered the airstrip.

## Other reports on N7501A (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19950526019579I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19950526019579I), May 26, 1995: Scwzer G164B (N7501A), Collegeport, TX, Minor damage. Engine quit after refueling. Landed rice field. Found water in fuel. Removed engine for hard landing check.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
