## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

CIRRUS WAS ON APPROCH TO RUNWAY 31 AT HOLLISTER MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (KCVH), ON SHORT FINAL AT APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET, WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY AN AIRCRAFT DEPARTING RUNWAY 31 (SAME RUNWAY), RESULTING IN THE CIRRUS AIRCRAFT RECEIVING MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT (LEFT ELEVATOR AND HORIZONTAL STABILIZER). CIRRUS AIRCRAFT PLUMMETED TO THE GROUND LANDING, BOUNCED ON THE RUNWAY, COLLAPSING LANDING GEAR. SMALL POST-LANDING FIRE OCCURED.

SECONDARY AIRCRAFT THAT COLLIDED WITH THE CIRRUS SUSTAINED PROPELLER DAMAGE, LANDED SAFELY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA219](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA219), Jul 19, 2025: Cirrus Design SR22 (N551SG), Hollister, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The departing pilot’s failure to see and avoid the landing airplane during the takeoff, which resulted in a mid-air collision.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
