PILOT WAS WORKING THE LH PATTERN FOR RWY 20 AT COE. ON HIS THEIR PATTERN, BASE LEG, THE ENGINE LOST POWER. PILOT LANDED AIRRAFT IN A VACANT FIELD AND EVACUATED HIMSELF AND THE PASSENGERS. AIRRAFT SUBSEQUENTLY CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS DESTROYED.
