## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2025 AT APPROX. 16:20 PM LOCAL TIME ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ SUSTAINED A TAIL STRIKE WHILE LANDING AT CHICAGO EXECUTIVE AIRPORT (KPWK).

THE PILOT IN COMMAND WAS PROVIDING FLIGHT INSTRUCTION AND IT WAS THE STUDENTS FIRST ATTEMPTED LANDING. THE INSTRUCTOR INFORMED THE STUDENT PILOT THAT THE AIRSPEED WAS GETTING SLOW AND THEY SHOULD MAKE CORRECTIONS. THE STUDENT PILOT KEPT PULLING BACK ON THE CONTROLS. THE PIC THEN INITIATED A GO AROUND RIGHT AS THE TAIL STRUCK THE RUNWAY.

THE AIRCRAFT SUSTANED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE LOWER EMPANNAGE AND LOWER RUDDER END CAP FAIRING WITH THE AFT TIE DOWN RING WAS ABRADED ON THE CIRCULAR LOOP, EMPENNAGE SKIN WAS DEFORMED IN AN UPWARDS DIRECTION, LOWER EMPENNAGE CLOSE-OUT BULKHEAD EXHIBITED REARWARD DEFORMATION IN THE VERTICAL WEB, AND THE LOWER RUDDER FAIRING CAP WAS CRACKED WITH MULTIPLE MISSING AREA OF MISSING MATERIAL AT THE 6 O’CLOCK POSITION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
