## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING FLIGHT, THE PILOT OBSERVED THE PRESENCE OF OIL ON THE ENGINE COWLING SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF. CONCERNED ABOUT A POTENTIAL OIL LEAK, THE PILOT ELECTED TO EXECUTE AN UNSCHEDULED LANDING IN A BARREN AREA NEAR THE EDGE OF THE COLORADO RIVER, JUST OUTSIDE THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ GOLF COURSE, TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE FURTHER. UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE OF THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR WHILE LANDING IN ROUGH DIRT NEAR THE WATER, RESULTING IN THE PROPELLER STRIKING THE GROUND AND THE RIGHT-WING TIP COMING TO REST IN CONTACT WITH THE TERRAIN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
