## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS WAS A FAMILIARIZATION FLIGHT FOR THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) TO BECOME FAMILIER WITH THE RV-6 AIRCRAFT. WHILE CONFIGURING THE AIRCRAFT FOR LANDING AT THE WARRENSBURG AIRPORT (KRCM), THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) SWITCHED FROM THE RIGHT FUEL TANK TO THE LEFT FUEL TANK WHICH RESULTED IN A POWER LOSS THAT COULDN'T BE CORRECTED BY APPLYING FULL POWER. WHEN ONLY ABLE TO MAINTAIN 2200 RPM, THE PIC ATTEMPTED TO SWITCH BACK TO THE RIGHT FUEL TANK WHICH RESULTED IN A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER.THE PIC EXECUTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A CORNFIELD A FEW MILES WEST OF THE KRMC AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED THE FIELD ON A HEADING OF 270 DEGREES BEFORE COMING TO REST IN A 45 TO 50 DEGREE NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE ON A HEADING OF 160 DEGREES. THE AIRCRAFT AND COMPONENTS REMAINED INTACT. DURING THE ON-SCENE EXAMINATION, FAA INSPECTORS FOUND THE FUEL SELECTOR POSITIONED IN-BETWEEN THE RIGHT AND LEFT TANKS WHERE NO SELECTOR DETENT EXISTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA327](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA327), Aug 19, 2025: Marshall Allen L RV6A (N692AC), Centerview, MO, substantial damage, investigation ongoing

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
