## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PIC ATTEMPTED TO LAND HIS EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR-BUILT AIRCRAFT ON THE GRASS BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND TAXIWAY, NOT AN APPROVED RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN, BEGAN SLOWING, AND STARTED TO PITCH FORWARD. HE STATED HE WAS PULLING THE YOKE BACK AS HARD AS HE COULD AND MAY HAVE INADVERTENTLY TOUCHED THE BRAKES. THE AIRCRAFT INVERTED FORWARD, ACCRUING DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLOR, LEFT WING TIP, VERTICAL STABILIZER, RUDDER, AND RIGHT WING STRUTS. THE PILOT SUSTAINED MINOR CUTS TO HIS HEAD. HE STATED HE FELT RUSHED AND SHOULD HAVE PERFORMED A GO-AROUND. THE PIC NOTED NO MAINTENANCE DISCREPANCIES PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA331](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA331), Aug 20, 2025: Elmwood Christavia (N383JA), South Saint Paul, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain airplane control during the landing roll. Contributing to the accident was the pilot’s decision to land the airplane on a non-approved landing surface.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
