## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 08/22/2025 THE PIC OF ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ FLEW TO APA FOR AN AIR DEMONSTRATION THE FOLLOWING DAY. UPON LANDING THE PIC NOTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO PULL TO THE LEFT. THE PIC ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THIS BY APPLYING RIGHT RUDDER AND THE AIRCRAFT DIDN'T RESPOND. THE PIC THEN ADDED RIGHT BRAKE AND NO RESPONSE. PIC ADDED RIGHT AILERON INPUT TO INCREASE DRAG AND STILL NO RESPONSE. THE AIRCRAFT FINISHED THE LEFT TURN AND THE PIC WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE AIRCRAFT AND GROUND LOOPED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF RUNWAY 28. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON THE ENGINE PROPELLER AND RIGHT WINGS. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT UPPER AND LOWER WINGS. PHOTOS PROVIDED BY THE PIC SHOW THAT UPON LANDING THE TAILWHEEL DID BECOME UNCASTERED WHICH WOULD'VE CONTRIBUTED TO THE DIFFICULTY OF CONTROLLING THE AIRCRAFT. PILOT WAS ALSO INFORMALLY COUNSELED ABOUT GOOD TAILWHEEL PROCEDURES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN25LA333](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN25LA333), Aug 22, 2025: Parks Fokker D-VII Replica (N18852), Englewood, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: A malfunction of the tailwheel which resulted in a runway excursion and ground loop.

## Other reports on N18852 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19790527028039I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19790527028039I), May 27, 1979: Amtrrf FOKKERDR1 (N18852), Aurora, CO, Minor damage. Forced landing after power loss. Cause undetermined.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
