## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AS PER PILOT HE ABORTED FIRST APPROACH TO MTP BECAUSE HE WAS OFF CENTER, TOO HIGH AND TOO FAST. PILOT EXECUTED A GO-AROUND AND MADE A SECOND ATTEMPT. ON HIS SECOND ATTEMPT PILOT WAS STILL HIGH AND FAST THEN LANDED LONG (PASSED 1000 FOOT MARKER). PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AND SKIDDED OFF THE RUNWAY INTO THE TALL BRUSH ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND NEAR THE END OF RWY 6. IT WAS DETERMINED THROUGH THE INVESTIGATION THE ATTEMPTED LANDING WAS APPROXIMATELY 6 KNOTS DOWNWIND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA25LA328](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA25LA328), Aug 27, 2025: Cirrus Design SR20 (N88SP), Montauk, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to verify the wind direction and maintain an appropriate approach speed, which resulted in a long landing and subsequent runway excursion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
