STUDENT PILOT WAS ON A SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT. AFTER TURNING BASE TO LAND AT KCEU, HIS ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH, THEN QUIT. HE DID NOT BELIEVE HE HAD ENOUGH ALTITUDE TO MAKE THE RUNWAY SO HE TURNED TOWARD A NEARBY FIELD. AS HE ARRIVED AT THE FIELD HE STRUCK POWER LINES AND A POWER LINE POLE.
