## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

VIDEO EVIDENCE AVAILABLE/REVIEWED FROM KCOE AIRPORT MANAGEMENT. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ TURNED FINAL TO RUNWAY 02 AT KCOE. DURING THE LANDING ROUND-OUT, THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO SLIGHTLY BALLOON. THE PILOT CORRECTED THE AIRCRAFT AND DURING THE FLARE, THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO BE CRABBED LEFT OF THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE. ACCORDING TO RUNWAY SKID MARKS AND GRASS SIGNATURE MARKINGS, THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO TOUCH DOWN (AT OR NEAR THE CENTERLINE) APPROXIMATELY 235 FEET BEYOND THE AIMING POINT MARKINGS (1,000 FT FROM THRESHOLD) IN A 3-POINT ATTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT DID A HIGH-SPEED GROUND LOOP, LEAVING THE RUNWAY CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

EQUAL TIRE SKID MARKS OF BOTH MAIN LANDING GEAR INDICATES THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 35 DEGREES LEFT OF CENTERLINE OF RUNWAY 02. SIGNATURE MARKINGS IN THE GRASS CONFIRMED AND ALIGNED WITH SKID MARKINGS ON RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN THE FIELD APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET FROM RUNWAY.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS RELOCATED TO A HANGAR UPON FAA INSPECTORS ARRIVAL. ACCORDING TO THE DIRECTIONAL GYRO, THE HEADING OF THE AIRCRAFT RESTED IN THE FIELD (WITH POWER OFF) WAS A HEADING OF APPROXIMATELY 322 DEGREES.

DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT TO INCLUDE: RIGHT AILERON DAMAGE, WRINKLING OF THE RIGHT WING SKIN ABOVE AND BELOW WING, BROKEN RT WING LENSE COVER, BROKEN FIBERGLASS RT WING TIP, BENT WHEEL STRUT TUBING-BOTH, BROKEN FIBERGLASS WHELL PANT FAIRINGS, BOTH PROPELLER BLADES-BENT (POWER AT IDLE-SIGNATURES), WRINKLING OF TOP LEFT WING NEAR WING ROOT. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25LA280](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25LA280), Sep 17, 2025: Weaver Harmon Rocket (N686X), Hayden, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of directional control during landing, which resulted in a runway excursion and collision with terrain.

## Other reports on N686X (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20230611006939I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20230611006939I), Jun 11, 2023: Weaver Fred A HR II (N686X), Coeur D Alene, ID, Minor damage. Following a sucessful touchdown, during the rollout as the pilot began to turn to exit the runway, the left main gear collapsed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
