## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING CLIMB-OUT THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER AND DRIFTED RIGHT OF CENTERLINE INTO 100-FOOT-HIGH PINE TREES. RIGHT WING STRUCK FIRST SPINNING THE AIRCRAFT 180 DEGREES AND IMPACTED THE GROUND. AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED IN THE POST IMPACT FIRE. WITNESS REPORTED THAT AT APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY HE HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION FROM THE ENGINE AND THEN THE ENGINE WENT SILENT. POST-CRASH EXAMINATION OF THE ENGINE REVEALED MISSING PUSH-ROD TUBES, PUSHRODS, AND ROCKER ARMS ON 2 CYLINDERS.

THIS STATEMENT MAY BE REVISED UPON ENGINE TEAR-DOWN EXAMINATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR25FA289](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR25FA289), Sep 19, 2025: Murphy SR3500 (N62ZT), Bigfork, MT, destroyed, 1 fatal, investigation ongoing

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
