## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT IN COMMAND, A CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, WAS PROVIDING INSTRUCTION TO A STUDENT PILOT. DURING THE FINAL LANDING ON RUNWAY 09, JUST PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN, SEVERAL LOUD IMPACT NOISES WERE NOTED. THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO THE PARKING AREA FOR INSPECTION, WHICH REVEALED DAMAGE TO TWO AREAS ON THE RIGHT WING LEADING EDGE, AS WELL AS DAMAGE TO THE LOWER ENGINE COWLING. MOST OF THE DAMAGE WAS LOCATED 3 FEET FROM THE RIGHT WING TIP WITH THE SECONDARY STRIKE NEAR 7 FEET INBOARD OF THE RIGHT WING TIP. AIRPORT OPERATIONS INSPECTED THE RUNWAY AREA AND DISCOVERED DECEASED GEESE ON RUNWAY 09. THE PILOT WAS INSTRUCTED TO SUBMIT A VOLUNTARY WILDLIFE STRIKE REPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA25LA360](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA25LA360), Sep 20, 2025: Piper PA-28-161 (N5914V), Linden, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: An in-flight collision with a bird while on approach.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
