## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APPROACH TO THE DESTINATION, THE PILOT ELECTED TO SWITCH FUEL TANKS FROM RIGHT TO LEFT. LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE FROM THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD, THE ENGINE QUIT. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE RUNWAY DUE TO THE SLOW SPEED AND LOW ALTITUDE NATURE OF THE APPROACH. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED TERRAIN AND CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN. ON EXAMINATION, IT WAS FOUND THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS NOT SECURED IN THE DETENT. POST-ACCIDENT EXAMINATION FOUND THAT THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS DIFFICULT TO MANIPULATE AND FINDING THE DETENTS WAS ALSO DIFFICULT. THE FUEL SELECTOR FUNCTIONED AS DESIGNED.
