## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ENROUTE FROM LHD TO LAKE CLARK, AK., PILOT HAD COMPLETED A COUPLE OF BEACH LANDINGS NEAR DRIFT RIVER ON THE WESTERN SHORE OF THE COOK INLET. AFTER A SUCESSFUL TAKEOFF FROM THE BEACH, AIRCRAFT PROCEDED SOUTH UNTIL PILOT DECIDED TO ATTEMPT A LANDING ON THE TUNDRA GRASS. INITIAL PLAN WAS TO MAKE A ROLL-ON LANDING AT SPEED TO CHECK THE FIRMNESS OF THE TUNDRA. AS THE PILOT TOUCHED DOWN ON THE TUNDRA, HE STATED THAT HE FELT THE GROUND WAS FIRM ENOUGH FOR A LANDING. AS THE AIRCRAFT SLOWED TO A NON-FLYING SPEED, THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED INTO THE WET, SOFT TUNDRA GRASS AND SPEED DECREASED RAPIDLY AT WHICH POINT THE AIRCRAFT SUNK INTO SOFT TUNDRA GRASS AND FLIPPED OVER, COMPLETELY INVERTED. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO EXIST THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURY AND ACTIVATE THE A/C ELT. HE WAS RESCUED BY ALASKA STATE TROOPER HELICOPTER APPROX 4 HOURS LATER.

NTSB CLASSIFIED THIS AS AN INCIDENT DUE TO NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE, HENCE NO NTSB ID NUMBER PROVIDED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
