ON OCTOBER 4, 2025, DURING A PART 91 FLIGHT INTO BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (L45), THE FADEC (FULL AUTHORITY DIGITAL ENGINE CONTROL) WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED DURING APPROACH. AS POWER WAS REDUCED FOR LANDING, THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO INCREASE POWER TO ADJUST THE APPROACH. THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND AND SUBSEQUENTLY SHUT DOWN. THE PILOT COMPLETED THE CHECKLIST AND TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE PILOT CONDUCTED A FORCED LANDING IN A FIELD APPROXIMATELY HALF A MILE SHORT OF RUNWAY 34. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. AFTER LANDING, THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED, AND THE AIRCRAFT TAXIED TO THE RAMP. THE SPECIFIC FADEC COMPONENT FAILURE IS UNKNOWN AND IS UNDER INVESTIGATION. THE REPORT WILL BE UPDATED IF THE INVESTIGATION UNCOVERS ANY ADDITIONAL RISKS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
