## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT ELECTED TO TAKEOFF WITH A TAILWIND, ON A ROUGH ONE-WAY-OUT DOWNSLOPING RUNWAY, AND WHEN IT BECAME APPARENT, HE NEEDED TO ABORT, HE APPLIED BRAKES, BUT AT THE SAME TIME THE AIRPLANE BECAME AIRBORNE AND QUICKLY TOUCHED BACK DOWN WITH BRAKES STILL APPLIED, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO NOSEOVER, RESTING UPSIDE DOWN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR26LA018](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR26LA018), Oct 9, 2025: Cessna 180 (N249MD), Imnaha, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s continued application of brakes during an aborted takeoff in a tailwind on down-sloping terrain, which resulted in a nose-over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
