## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, AN ERCOUPE 415C, WAS FLYING AT 5500 FT BETWEEN DARRINGTON AIRPORT (1S2) AND ARLINGTON AIRPORT(AWO) WHEN THE OIL PRESSURE SUDDENLY DROPPED AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. PILOT DETERMINED HE COULD NOT MAKE EITHER AIRPORT AND MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD OFF HIGHWAY 530. WEATHER WAS VFR, WINDS CALM, VISIBILITY 10 SM, AND CLEAR. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE TWO PERSONS ONBOARD AND ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ SUSTAINED NO DAMAGE IN THE EMERGENCY LANDING. PILOT DISCOVERED OIL CAP WAS SITTING LOOSELY ON THE FILLER NECK AND OIL WAS RUNNING DOWN THE SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
