## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2025, TECNAM ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DEPARTED FROM POMPANO BEACH AIR

PARK (KPMP) FOR MARATHON (KMTH). PIC WAS LEFT SEAT, CFI WAS RIGHT. THERE WAS A BACKSEAT PASSENGER. THE FLIGHT PROCEEDED SOUTHWEST ON THE OCEAN

SIDE OF THE FLORIDA KEYS AT ~500’ ALTITUDE AND ~85 KNOTS OBSERVING SHARKS, STINGRAYS, MANATEES, ETC. IN THE WATER WHILE THE CFI WAS FLYING.

ONCE AT PATTERN ALTITUDE FOR RUNWAY 7 AT MARATHON THE CFI TURNED CONTROLS OVER TO THE PIC WHO RADIOED LANDING INTENTIONS. THE APPROACH WAS STABLE BUT THE PLANE WAS FLARED TOO HIGH. THE TAIL STRUCK THE RUNWAY. THE CFI IMMEDIATELY ASSUMED CONTROL, AND APPLIED

FULL THROTTLE. THE PLANE WENT ONTO THE GRASS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE PAVED RUNWAY, BEFORE BEING

MANEUVERED BACK ONTO THE RUNWAY. THE PLANE WAS TAXIED BACK ONTO THE ACTIVE RUNWAY, TO THE RAMP, AND PARKED

AT THE FBO. THE CFI IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED AIRCRAFT OWNER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
