## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE TAKE-OFF ROLL THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO ADJUSTED HIS SEAT FORWARD ONE ENGAGEMENT HOLE AND WHEN HE PULLED THE ADJUSTMENT HANDLE THE SEAT MOVE TO THE AFT MOST POSITION COMING TO REST AGAINST THE SEAT STOP. THE PLACEMENT OF THE SEAT CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL AND THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT AND TRAVELLED DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. THE AIRCRAFT STUCK MULTIPLE ROCKS THE LAST OF WHICH CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP TAIL OVER NOSE AND CAME TO REST PARTIALLY IN A TREE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR26LA038](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR26LA038), Nov 3, 2025: Cessna 182P (N1303S), San Andreas, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s decision to adjust his seat during the takeoff roll, which resulted in the seat sliding aft and a subsequent loss of directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
