## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT TOOK THE TAIL WHEEL PLANE FOR A RECREATIONAL FLIGHT ON AN IDEAL DAY. WHEN HE RETURNED TO HIS HOME GRASS RUNWAY FOR A FULL STOP, HE SAID IT FELT AS THOUGH THE RIGHT WHEEL LOCKED UP. THE NOSE RAPIDLY WENT OVER, AND THE PLANE SOMERSAULTED ONTO ITS BACK. WITNESS MARKS ON THE GRASS CORROBORATED THAT THE RIGHT WHEEL WAS LOCKED. THE WEATHER WAS NO FACTOR, AND THERE WERE NO MECHANICAL DISCREPANCIES OTHERWISE. WITH FAA INSPECTOR PRESENT, THE WHEELS AND BRAKES WERE FUNCTION CHECKED AND NO DISCREPANCIES WERE NOTED. NO ABNORMALITIES WITH FLIGHT CONTROLS, STEERING, OR BRAKES WERE NOTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA26LA032](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA26LA032), Nov 6, 2025: Cessna 140 (N1860V), Suffolk, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain control of the airplane during landing, which resulted in a nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
