## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR AND COMMERCIAL PILOT DEPARTED THE MERRITT ISLAND AIRPORT TO CONDUCT A PRACTICE CHECKRIDE IN PREPARATION FOR A MULTIENGINE PRACTICAL TEST. APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR AND 15 MINUTES INTO THE FLIGHT THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER RESULTING IN THE AIRCRAFT LANDING ON INTERSTATE 95, STRIKING A CAR, AND SKIDDING TO A STOP AGAINST THE CENTER MEDIAN BARRIER. THE OCCUPANTS EGRESSED WITH NO INJURIES. THE ACCIDENT RESULTED IN MINOR INJURIES TO THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE THAT WAS STRUCK. INVESTIGATION DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINES FAILED DUE TO FUEL STARVATION CAUSED BY THE MISMANAGEMENT OF THE FUEL SYSTEM. POST ACCIDENT INSPECTION OF THE FUEL SYSTEM REVEALED THAT THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 PINT OF FUEL REMAINING IN EACH OF THE TWO MAIN FUEL TANKS, 11 GALLONS IN THE LEFT AUXILIARY TANK, AND 12 GALLONS IN THE RIGHT AUXILIARY TANK.
