## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT AND OWNER HAD RECENTLY HAD THE AIRCRAFTS ELECTRONIC MAGNETOS REFURBISHED, AND THEY HAD JUST BEEN REFITTED TO THE AIRCRAFT. THIS WAS TO BE A TEST FLIGHT OF THEIR AIRBORNE PERFORMANCE AFTER THE PILOT HAD CONDUCTED SATISFACTORY GROUND RUNS OF THE ENGINE. THE PILOT INTENDED TO FLY VFR IN THE VISUAL PATTERN UNTIL HE WAS SATISFIED WITH THE AIRCRAFT PERFORMANCE. AFTER 2 SUCCESSFUL PATTERNS WITH THE AIRCRAFT DEMONSTRATING THE PERFORMANCE AS REQUIRED, EACH FLOWN TO A LOW APPROACH, A THIRD GO-AROUND WAS INITIATED. AS THE AIRCRAFT TURNED CROSSWIND, THE PILOT FELT THE AIRCRAFT FAIL TO CLIMB. THE PILOT PUSHED BOTH THROTTLES FULLY FORWARD, BUT THE AIRCRAFT WOULD NOT MAINTAIN A POSITIVE RATE OF CLIMB. HE GLANCED IN AT THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE INSTRUMENTS AND NOTED THAT THEY ALL APPEARED TO BE CORRECT AND SHOWING NO MALFUNCTION. AT APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET AGL, HE REALIZED HE WAS GOING TO IMPACT THE GROUND AND CHOSE A PARKING LOT AHEAD AS HE WAS OVER A RESIDENTIAL AREA. THE PILOT HAS NO RECOLLECTION OF THE IMPACT AND WAS SAFELY RECOVERED FROM THE AIRCRAFT BY MEDICAL STAFF. HE SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES ONLY. AWAITING DATA ANALYSIS FROM ENGINE DATA CARDS. REPORT MAY BE SUBJECT TO AMMENDMENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
