## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON TUESDAY AT APPROXIMATELY 11:30, THEY WERE CLOSING THE BAGGAGE DOOR ON AN AIRCRAFT AT GATE 12. THEY DID NOT REPOSITION THE BELT LOADER PRIOR TO CLOSING THE DOOR. WHILE THE DOOR WAS CLOSING, IT MADE CONTACT WITH THE LIP OF THE BELT LOADER, AT WHICH POINT THEY HEARD A POPPING NOISE. AFTER RECOGNIZING THE ISSUE, THEY MOVED THE BELT LOADER BACK AND ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE BAGGAGE DOOR AGAIN. AFTER A COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS, THEY NOTICED THAT THE DOOR WAS NOT FULLY CLOSING AND THAT THERE WAS A VISIBLE GAP. THEY IMMEDIATELY REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO THEIR SUPERVISOR ON DUTY AND INFORMED THEM OF WHAT HAD OCCURRED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
