## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS INCIDENT OCCURED ON 02/12/2026 AT 1100 MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME AT KHDN IN HAYDEN, COLORADO. THE FLIGHT CREW OF A CESSNA 560XL TAXIED TO RUNWAY 28 FROM THE DE-ICE PAD IN PREPARATION FOR A REPOSITIONING FLIGHT FROM KHDN TO KLNK. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS SET AT THE RUNWAY 28 HOLD SHORT LINE AS THE CREW WAITED FOR THEIR IFR RELEASE. UPON RECEIVING THEIR IFR RELEASE THE PILOT IN COMMAND AND THE PILOT MONITORING COMPLETED THE RUNWAY LINEUP CHECKLIST. TAKEOFF THRUST WAS APPLIED AND BY THE TIME THE AIRCRAFT REACHED 40 KNOTS, THE PILOT IN COMMAND REALIZED THAT THE ACCELERATION RATE WAS ABNORMAL. AS THEY REACHED THE 70 KNOT CROSSCHECK, THE AMBER CAUTION LIGHT ILLUMUNATED WITH THE ANTISKID INOP AND LO BRAKE PRESS ANNUNCIATOR AND THE PIC ABORTED THE TAKEOFF. THE PIC DEPLOYED THRUST REVERSERS AND APPLIED BRAKING PRESSURE, BUT NORMAL BRAKES WERE INOPERATIVE. THE PIC APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES AND THE AIRCRAFT DECELERATED. THE PIC WAS ABLE TO CLEAR THE RUNWAY AS HE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT TAXIWAY A4 BUT WAS UNABLE TO ADVANCE BEYOND THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THE PILOT NOTED THAT THE ABILITY TO STEER THE AIRCRAFT WAS LOST, THEN BROUGHT THE AIRCRAFT TO A STOP.

THE CREW CONTACTED DENVER CENTER AND THE FBO TO NOTIFY THEM OF THEIR SITUATION. GROUND OPS ARRIVED AND ADVISED THE CREW TO EXIT THE AIRCRAFT. AS THE PILOT MONITORING EXITED THE AIRCRAFT, THE GROUND CREW INFORMED HIM THAT THE WHEELS WERE ON FIRE. THE PILOT MONITORING ALERTED THE PILOT IN COMMAND OF THE FIRE. THE PIC SECURED THE AIRCRAFT AND EXITED. ARFF ENGAGED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES DURING THIS INCIDENT.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS TAKEN TO WEST STAR AVIATION FOR INSPECTION, TESTING AND REPAIRS. THERE WERE NO CONCLUSIVE FINDINGS DURING THE INSPECTION. THE PARKING BRAVE VALVE WAS REMOVED AND SENT TO TEXTRON AVIATION FOR EVALUATION AND TESTING, BUT THE RESULTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. MULTIPLE COMPONENTS TO THE WHEEL AND BRAKES REQUIRE REPLACEMENT DUE TO DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE FIRE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
