## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAD BEEN SITTING ON THE RAMP FOR SEVERAL DAYS PRIOR TO THE FLIGHT. THE WEATHER WAS COLD AND RAINY WITH HEAVY DOWNPOURS THE DAYS PRECEDING THE FLIGHT. UPON REACHING FL280 THE PILOT NOTICED THE CLUTCH ON THE TRIM SYSTEM INTERMITTENTLY ENGAGING. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY OUT OF TRIM AND THE ELEVATOR TRIM WOULD NOT MOVE. HE DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND STARTED A DESCENT FOR LANDING. ONCE SAFELY ON THE GROUND THE ELEVATOR TRIM SYSTEM WAS STILL FROZEN, WITHIN 10 MINS THE TRIM COULD BE MOVED SLIGHTLY WITH NORMAL PRESSURE AND WITHIN 20 MINS THE TRIM WAS FULLY FUNCTIONAL IN MANUAL AND ELECTRIC MODES. MECHANICS WERE SENT TO THE AIRCRAFT FOR A SAFETY INSPECTION AND ALL WAS NORMAL. ONCE PLANE WAS BACK IN THE MAINTENANCE SHOP THE ENTIRE SYSTEM WAS GREASED AND INSPECTED AND RETURNED TO SERVICE. THE AIRCRAFT HAS FLOWN APPROXIMATELY 15 HRS

SINCE WITHOUT ANY ISSUES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
