ON MARCH 8, 2026, THE PILOT OF LANCAIR 4P, DID NOT ADHERE TO THE STANDARD CHECKLIST PROCEDURES. DURING THE APPROACH, THE PILOT WAS ENGAGED IN CONVERSATION WITH A PASSENGER, WHICH LED TO A DISTRACTION. AS A RESULT, THE LANDING GEAR WAS NOT DEPLOYED, CULMINATING IN A BELLY LANDING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA26LA146](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA26LA146), Mar 8, 2026: Schroder David Lancair IV-P (N366TF), Feather Sound, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to extend the landing gear before landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System.
