## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE EN ROUTE, THE PILOT ENCOUNTERED DETERIORATING WEATHER CONDITIONS, INCLUDING STORM CLOUDS, MODERATE PRECIPITATION, AND ICING. THE PILOT MANEUVERED AND REQUESTED ALTITUDE AND ROUTING CHANGES FROM ATC IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAINTAIN VISUAL CONDITIONS AND AVOID THE WEATHER.

THE AIRCRAFT SUBSEQUENTLY ENTERED INSTRUMENT METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS WITH VISIBLE MOISTURE AND ICING. THE PILOT REPORTED ICE ACCUMULATION AND INTERMITTENT STALL WARNINGS, WHICH MADE AIRCRAFT CONTROL INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT. THE PILOT DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPILOT AND ATTEMPTED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL WHILE REQUESTING LOWER ALTITUDE AND DEVIATION FROM ATC.

DESPITE CORRECTIVE ACTIONS, AIRCRAFT CONTROLLABILITY CONTINUED TO DEGRADE, AND THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED A STALL. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO REGAIN FULL CONTROL.

THE PILOT ACTIVATED THE CIRRUS AIRFRAME PARACHUTE SYSTEM (CAPS). THE AIRCRAFT DESCENDED UNDER CANOPY AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR26LA126](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR26LA126), Mar 10, 2026: Cirrus Design SR20 (N619AV), Redington, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper decision to continue the flight into icing conditions, which resulted in the accumulation of airframe icing and a subsequent aerodynamic stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
