## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON THE EVENING OF APRIL 6, 2026, AT APPROXIMATELY 6:00 PM LOCAL TIME, CFI AND STUDENT WERE CONDUCTING A TRAINING FLIGHT NEAR SEGUIN, TEXAS, OPERATING OUT OF HUBER AIRPARK (E70). THEY HAD LOGGED APPROXIMATELY 1.5 HOURS OF FLIGHT TIME WHEN STUDENT MADE AN INITIAL LANDING AT E70, WHICH WAS ADMITTEDLY A HARD LANDING. THEY DECIDED TO ABORT THE LANDING AND GO AROUND. UPON TOUCHDOWN ON THE SECOND LANDING THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT, CFI IMMEDIATELY TOOK CONTROL, ABORTED THE LANDING, AND EXECUTED A GO-AROUND. DURING THE GO-AROUND, CFI MADE RADIO CONTACT WITH AN AIRCRAFT HOLDING ON THE GROUND AWAITING DEPARTURE AND REQUESTED THAT THEY VISUALLY INSPECT OUR LANDING GEAR AS WE MADE ANOTHER PASS OVER THE RUNWAY FOR HIS VISUAL INSPECTION. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT OUR RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR WAS MISSING THE WHEEL AND TIRE. EMERGENCY SERVICES WERE CONTACTED. AIRCRAFT REMAINED IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AND CONTINUED FLYING FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES WHILE EMERGENCY SERVICES WERE STAGED AND POSITIONED ON THE FIELD. ONCE EMERGENCY SERVICES WERE IN PLACE, CFI EXECUTED A SOFT FIELD LANDING TECHNIQUE ABOUT 80 FEET SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. THE DAMAGED RIGHT MAIN GEAR LEG CONTACTED THE GROUND AND DUG IN CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO YAW SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT, CAUSING NOSE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSE, AND PROPELLER AND BOTH WING TIPS TO STRIKE THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT ROTATED AND CAME TO A STOP ABOUT 15 FEET SHORT OF THE RUNWAY SURFACE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN26LA161](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN26LA161), Apr 7, 2026: Flight Design Ctsw (N249CT), Seguin, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the landing gear weldment that resulted in separation of the right main landing gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
