## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APRIL 17 AT APPROXIMATELY 1908 ZULU TIME, THE PILOT ENCOUNTERED DENSE CLOUD COVER WHILE EN ROUTE FROM KHOT AND DESCENDED THROUGH AN OPENING WITH ASSISTANCE FROM ATC AND PIREPS. AFTER DESCENDING BELOW THE CLOUD LAYER, THE PILOT IDENTIFIED ARDMORE DOWNTOWN EXECUTIVE AIRPORT (1F0) AND ELECTED TO LAND DUE TO WORSENING CONDITIONS AND TURBULENCE.

THE PILOT EXECUTED AN INITIAL APPROACH BUT WENT AROUND DUE TO BEING TOO HIGH. ON THE SECOND APPROACH, IN GUSTY WINDS REPORTED UP TO 36 KNOTS TAILWIND, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN FARTHER DOWN THE RUNWAY THAN INTENDED AT A HIGHER-THAN-DESIRED SPEED.

DESPITE MAXIMUM BRAKING, THE AIRCRAFT WAS UNABLE TO STOP WITHIN THE AVAILABLE RUNWAY AND EXITED THE DEPARTURE END. THE PILOT REPORTED EXPECTING GRASS BEYOND THE RUNWAY BUT INSTEAD ENCOUNTERED LIMITED OVERRUN AREA FOLLOWED BY A SIGNIFICANT DROP-OFF.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN26LA170](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN26LA170), Apr 17, 2026: Piper PA 31P 350 (N9262Y), Ardmore, OK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain control of the airplane while landing on a wet runway with a tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
